Porterville Area Favorite!!!! The Orange Works Cafe

The Orange Works Cafe is owned by Jack and Isabel.  They bought the cafe 9 years ago and have created a loyal local and out of town following.

With their delicious menu of sandwiches salads, and lunch specials they are always hopping.  But the ice cream is what really gets people excited. Made in house daily, you can expect ice cream flavors and consistency that are top notch.  They have an array of flavors from fruits to candy inspired, and my personal favorite seasonal, (hello pumpkin).  Some of their flavors are cinnamon, pistachio, Oreo, cheesecake, lemon, blueberry and of course Orange.  The list goes on and on...

They are well know for their tri-tip, fresh ingredients and their friendly down home attitude that you can only get from owners that love what they do!  Check out their Facebook page for daily updates on specials and ice cream flavors.

Porterville Pumpkin Patch - Changala's Pumpkin Farm Opens Soon!

With fall being officially upon us, it is time to start planning our family trips to the local pumpkin patch!Here in Porterville we have the beloved Changala's Pumpkin Farm. The Changala's have been farming in our local area for several decades. Opening their first Pumpkin farm in 1992, a legacy was established.

Soon you will see school buses flowing in and out of their parking lot as school kids are brought on their annual field trip to pick out their own special pumpkin. The Pumpkin Patch has morphed over the years to be more than just any pumpkin patch; it has become a fun family attraction for the whole valley. In addition to the famed pumpkins the farm also offers a scary corn maze, hay rides, baby animal area and special carnival rides for the kids.

Recently the Central Valley has made national and international headlines - our voices are being heard, our faces are being seen. Over the last few weeks the Huffington Post, L.A. Times, Washington Post, even the BBC (not to mention the grass roots social media) have been sharing our stories.
